According to a report by The Punch, the 73-year-old slumped in his house in Akure, Ondo State, and eventually died after he was rushed to a hospital.
The professor of history was the chairman of the Elders Forum of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State and participated as a delegate at the party's national convention held in Port Harcourt between October 6 and October 7.
