New N100 note goes into circulation

The centenary N100 note was unveiled by President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday, November 12, 2014.

The N100 banknote released in commemoration of Nigeria’s centenary celebration is set to go into circulation, today, December 19.

The centenary note was unveiled by President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday, November 12, 2014.

The Central Bank of Nigeria announced the release of the note through a statement signed by its Head of Corporate Communications, Ibrahim Mu’azu in Abuja. It reads:

“The commemorative note will circulate alongside the existing N100 note,” Mr. Mu’azu said. “The note, which is embedded with features to assist the visually impaired recognise genuine notes, also has other security features easily identifiable through look, feel and tilt of the currency note.”
