President meets economic team for briefing

The president had a briefing with his economic team at the Presidential Villa.

Buhari's spokesperson has said the president had met with finance minister, Kemi Adeosun three times after the certificate controversy began.

The delegation that met with the president for a briefing session includes Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele, and Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun.

The team briefed the president on the state of the country's economy as well as the implementation of the 2017 budget and preparations for the 2018 budget.

They also discussed revenue strategies with him, as well as combined cost reduction, debt management, and the economic impact of monetary policy strategies.

According to President Buhari's spokesperson, Femi Adesina, the economic briefing lasted for about two hours.

The meeting is the president's first this week after he had a series of meetings with several leaders at his home office last week.

Since his resumption to office on Monday, August 21, the president has met with an investigative panel headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, as well as the country's security council.

On Friday, August 26, he met with leaders of the ruling party, the All Progressives' Congress (APC) and main opposition party, the People's Democratic Party (PDP), and later hosted state governors from across the country.

This is coming after the president's 103 days of medical vacation away in London where he was treated for an undisclosed illness.
