A man suspected of creating explosives for Boko Haram has been arrested by the police in Yobe State.

The suspect, identified as Ba’na, was arrested on Sunday, January 25 and is allegedly responsible for the manufacture of several bombs which had been used in suicide attacks in the area.

“He confessed to being responsible for the manufacture of the explosives used in at least three suicide attacks and the car explosion outside the divisional police station,” a senior police officer told AFP on Tuesday, January 27.

“He was quite good at his disguise and his mason and water vending jobs gave him perfect cover,” he added.

Nine people believed to be Ba’na’s accomplices were also apprehended in a hideout in the town after his arrest.

Ba’na is said to have made the explosives which were used in the attack on the Government Science Secondary School in Potiskum on November 10, 2014 and also the January 11 market blasts.
