36 women and children were also said to have been rescued during the battle which took place along Ser-Jaji border communities of Madagali and Gwoza.
“So, troops asked us to join them in the operation, which yielded results. We succeeded in killing, at least, 150 Boko Haram members. We recovered four AK 47 rifles, seven hand grenades, six locally-made EIDs, and 15 double barrel guns,” a vigilante member, Bukar Jimeta, told Punch.
The success of the operation was also confirmed by a senior member of the state’s hunters’ association, Young Morris.
“Yes, the operation was a success, because women and children numbering 36 were rescued. Weapons which include AK 47 rifles, double barrels and 155 cattle and sheep were also recovered and deposited at the military base in Madagali,” Morris said.
Adamawa is one of three states which have suffered the worst of the Boko Haram insurgency.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has urged the Nigerian military to wipe out the sect before December 2015.
