Female suicide bomber kills 5 at Nigeria/Cameroon border

Five children were killed when a female suicide bomber slipped into a gathering of playing children.

According to reports, the incident happened as children played at night in the Cameroonian village of Zamga; which lies a mile from the Nigerian border.

"A suicide bomber blew herself up (on Tuesday) at around 7:45pm in the village of Zamga, two kilometers (1.2 miles) from the Nigerian border", AFP quotes a security official as saying from Yaounde, the Cameroonian capital.

"Five children were killed and two others wounded", the security official said, before adding that the bomber died in the attack.

According to AFP, "a number of children were playing in the Boko Haram ravaged region when a young girl slipped in among them and triggered her explosive charge".

The latest attack comes barely a week after no fewer than 20 people were killed over the weekend by the terrorists in separate attacks in Nigeria and Cameroon.

Boko Haram has killed over 3,000 persons in Cameroon and over 50,000 in Nigeria since 2009.

The governments of both countries have sufficiently degraded the capacity of the insurgents to launch commando style attacks, but soft target operations from the fleeing terrorists are still common.
