Army appoints new Commander to battle sect

The Army authority disclosed this in a statement on Fri. Dec. 18. signed by signed by Colonel Rabe Abubakar.

The Defence Headquarters has appointed  Major General Hassan Umoru as the new Theatre Commander for Operation Lafiya Dole, which is at the forefront of the Boko Haram fight.

It said General Umoru's appointment is in a bid to make the operation more efficient, effective and combat ready in the discharge of its assigned tasks of crushing the remnant of terrorists.

The Army authority disclosed this in a statement on Fri. Dec. 18. signed by signed by Colonel Rabe Abubakar.

It also appointed Major General Lucky Irabor as the Deputy Theatre Commander.

“The aim of this new development is to restrategise and inject new tactics to the existing operational procedures with the aim of finally knocking out the terrorists who now devised means of hitting soft targets through suicide bombings and isolated attacks on remote villages.

“Operation Lafiya Dole will continue to be responsive until all elements of terrorists are finally crushed”, the statement said.
