EFCC charges ex-NNPC boss to court over recovered $9.8 million, £74, 000

Yakubu, a former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), was charged with six counts of fraud.

He was arraigned on Thursday, March 16 at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The sums of money were recovered from Yakubu’s property in the Sabon Tasha area of Kaduna on February 3, 2017.

He however pleaded not guilty to the charges of fraud leveled against him.

Meanwhile, Yakubu has sued the EFCC for N1 billion over the seizure of the money which he said was given to him as gifts while he was heading the NNPC.
