Governor directs immediate payment of outstanding salaries

The statement assured workers that salary arrears at local governments would also be paid as soon as necessary funds were received from the Federal Government.

Gov. Ahmed directs immediate payment of outstanding salaries

Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara has directed the state Accountant General to pay the outstanding two months’ salary of civil servants with immediate effect.

This is contained in a statement on Friday in Ilorin by the governor’s Senior Special Assistant, Media and Communications, Dr Muyideen Akorede.

Ahmed said the directive followed the government's receipt of the bailout funds from the Federal Government.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Kwara is one of the two states that have complied with paperwork for accessing a bailout loan from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The governor, in the statement, thanked civil servants for their patience during the salary delay and pledged his administration's renewed internally revenue generation drive in order to meet its obligations.

The government sympathised with the workers for the hardship caused by the salaries’ delay and expressed optimism that the country would soon overcome its economic crises.
