Labour commends Kwara governor on infrastructural development

The union acknowledged the effort of Governor Ahmed in transforming the architecture of the state.

Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed

The commendation was contained in a letter to the governor signed by the Union's Chairman, Comrade Kolawole Olumoh and Secretary, Comrade Joseph Tunde.

The union acknowledged the effort of Governor Ahmed in transforming the architecture of the state through the various developmental projects his administration has embarked on.

According to the labour leaders, projects such as the recently flagged off modern secretariat complex for the state civil servants, the Geri-Alimi diamond underpass, ongoing dualisation of Kulende-UITH-OkeOse road, various road constructions across the state, among other projects are a great testimony of the governor's affection for the state.

They emphasized that the construction of the modern secretariat would serve as motivation to the civil servants, noting that workers require a conducive environment for them to optimally discharge their duties.

The workers described Ahmed as the 'people's governor' and lauded him for the prompt payment of salary of state workers and for offsetting the outstanding salary arrears of staff of the State Water Corporation.

It will be recalled that Governor Ahmed last week Monday flagged off the construction of the N1.1 billion new secretariat complex for civil servants.

The governor said the new secretariat became necessary in view of the fact that office accommodation has become insufficient to cater for increasing workforce in the state civil service.

The project, which is being funded under the State Infrastructural Development Fund is expected to be completed next year.
