I completely didnt recognize myself, she said. I always had a glitter cup. It was always filled to the rim with alcohol. I just realized that I had to surrender. It was time. I had to give it up and I was ready. Im not going to miss another day. Im not going to miss another Halloween. Im not going to miss another Christmas. Im going to be present.

In a book excerpt previously revealed by People, Jessica shared that she was sexually abused as a child. As a result of that, and the pressures of her career, she started self-medicating with alcohol and stimulants. I was killing myself with all the drinking and pills, she wrote in her book.

Jessica said she realized she needed help after a Halloween party at her house in late 2017. She got sober in November 2017. Giving up the alcohol was easy, she said. I was mad at that bottle. At how it allowed me to stay complacent and numb. She now undergoes therapy twice a week.
