Highlife veteran sues Morgan Entertainment

Dr Prince Emeka Morocco Maduka has filed a lawsuit against his CEO Emeka Morgan Nwanne Oguejiofor Jr. for early termination of his contract.

Dr Prince Emeka Morocco, an artiste with Morgan entertainment (which also boasts of artiste Dialect) has filed a lawsuit against his CEO, Emeka Morgan Nwanne. Prince Emeka is suing for N150 million in damages for early termination of his contract.

A source who revealed to Pulse, stated that the matter started after the death of a prominent figure, Chief Ozoemena Nsugbe AKA Ayaka Igbo Nine. Dr Morocco Maduka, the most senior artiste at Morgan Entertainment last month, had travelled to United States of America for an all-expense paid medical checkup which he is entitled to by his contract.

Morocco was scheduled to have a meeting with his label boss, Emeka Morgan, but his plan to have a meeting with CEO failed as his trip to the United States was primarily not for a private discussion.

Morgan Entertainment management had stopped the release of a tribute song by Prince Morocco, which he did for the late Dr Ozoemena Nsugbe AKA the King of Igbo Music, because the King of Igbo music blasted his CEO Emeka Morgan and revealed a lot of things unknown to the public on the said album which was meant to be released on the 28 of January 2015.

This created some friction, with Morgan Entertainment management reaching out to the artiste for internal resolution. Morocco was also informed that should he seek redress from an external body without resolving the matter internally, his contract will be terminated.

Prince Morocco filed his case in a Lagos court, and many prominent people have called upon him to withdraw his case. Most notable is the new King of Highlife, Onyinye Osita Osadebe, who called Prince Morocco Maduka to withdraw the case he filed against the record label. The son of late Osita Osadebe who was crowned four months ago said

" Morgan Entertainment is a founding father of Igbo music and the record label has done so much for the movement and deserves respect”.

The new King of highlife also said that "Prince Morocco Maduka is a father in traditional music, and so he also deserves some respect."

The meeting took place at the palace of Obi Gibson Nwosu the king of Awka Kingdom (Eze Uzu Awka), Anambra state. According to the special assistant to Morocco Paul he said the meeting was unsuccessful because both parties refused to agree to the terms and conditions of the record label.

Prince Morocco Maduka  has however insisted that the tribute song for late Ozoemena must be released by January 28th 2015.

Prince Morocco Maduka is claiming 150 million Naira for early termination of his contract. According to Morocco’s team they said the reason behind the CEO’s refusal of releasing the tribute song is because the truth in that song will crush his political ambition.

But according to Melody Emeka Nwosu,  manager of Morgan Entertainment Highlife, the CEO did not stop any tribute song. The manager said it is a personal dispute between Prince Morocco Maduka and the CEO.
