Filmmaker picks budding filmmaker to groom

A budding filmmaker will join Kunle Afolayan in his movie studio to learn and be groomed on filmmaking.

The lucky budding filmmaker, Joseph Duke, was chosen from the top 20 finalists that submitted entries for the Sahara Group bankrolled film making competition, "Grooming Film Extrapreneurs with Kunle Afolayan."

"The CEO" producer disclosed that after looking out of production values, entertainment value, delivering, acting and directorial approach, three names emerged the best contestants.

Speaking at the unveiling of the winner, the filmmaker said: "The three crucial and important aspect of filmmaking include hands on camera, lightning and sound. What I do is to merge entertainment value with the production value.

"And when picking the ultimate winner and runner ups, I looked out for camera approach, delivery, acting, editing, directorial approach amidst other criteria.

"I'm happy that I'm passing my knowledge down to someone else, who I believe will also take the torch and pass it on to the next generation after him," Afolayan said.

Alabi Kayode emerged the second runner up while Chineye Balogun emerged first runner up and Joseph Duke emerged winner in the keenly contested competition that lasted several months.
