It has now been confirmed that season seven of the show will premiere on July 16, 2017.
A first look at the penultimate season of the hit fantasy drama suggests dark times and a great war ahead.

The hit HBO drama announced its date with a Facebook Live video which features a block of ice slowly melt to reveal the date.
Unlike past seasons which had 10 episodes, the upcoming season will have seven episodes, while the eighth which is expected to be the final season will have six episodes.
