HBO show to end in 2018, possible spinoff

The seventh season which would be seven episodes as opposed to the show's normal 10 episodes, will debut in 2017.

This was confirmed by Casey Bloys, HBO programming chief, who made the announcement at the Television Critics Association's conference.

Speaking on possible spin-off, Bloys said, "we're open to it, the producers aren't opposed to it, but there's no concrete plans right now".

"Game of Thrones" will begin production this summer, pushing its season seven premiere date from its usual spring to Summer.

In a recent interview with EW, the showrunners mentioned that the seventh season is the penultimate season of show which is based on the popular book series “A Song of Ice and Fire,” by George R.R. Martin.

Titled "The Winds of Winter," the "GOT" season six finale ended with Daenerys finally coming back to Westeros; Jon Snow as king of the North and Cersei sitting on the Iron Throne.

On July 14, the show received 23 Primetime Emmy nominations this 2016. The nominations include 'Outstanding Drama Series,' 'Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series,' 'Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series,' among others.
