Mariah Carey joins season 3 of series

Mariah Carey is headed to the small screen with a guest starring role on Fox hit series "Empire."

Mariah Carey joins Empire

With her episode to air on October 5, 2016, Carey will play Kitty, a superstar who comes to Empire to collaborate with Jamal Lyon on a new song.

Carey joins latest additions including Taye Digg, Sierra McClain, French Montana, and Birdman.

Speaking on Carey joining the show, Taraji P Henson said to E!, "She was great. She's fabulous, she's beautiful to look at," Henson said. "Wish I could wear a leotard like that… What Mariah brings to the music industry, she brought to the show. I'm grateful she spent time with us."

"Empire" stars  Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson, Jussie Smollett, Bryshere “Yazz” Gray, Trai Byers, Grace Gealey, Kaitlin Doubleday, Gabourey Sidibe, Ta’Rhonda Jones and Serayah McNeill.

It has also featured guest appearances by celebrities like Chris Rock, Alicia Keys, Marisa Tomei, Naomi Campbell, Ludacris, Adam Rodriguez, Vivica A. Fox, Rosie O’ Donnell and Andre Royo.

"Empire" centers around a hip hop music and entertainment company, Empire Entertainment, and the drama among the members of the founders' family as they fight for control of the company.

The show returned for its second season on Wednesday, March 30, 2016. In undefined, Lucious got married, and the season ended with the possible death of a Lyon.

Season three of the hit show will premiere on September 21, 2016.
