Do you think too much 'gay stuff' is behind 'Empire's recent viewership dip? Check out what 50 Cent thinks.
Viewership for the 'second season of Fox's hit series 'Empire,' recently took a dip, losing 2.3 million viewers, and rapper 50 Cent has something to say about that.
The rapper took to Instagram to blame too much 'gay stuff' for the recent dip.
The rapper posted a screenshot of Industry on Blast's Instagram post, which had the caption ;
"There are 3 million less viewers who tuned into last night’s Empire episode!!!! did you watch it? We could not take the extra gay stuff or celebrity stuff last night!!!!"
The rapper shared the post with his own caption reading;
"EMPIRES TV RATINGS TOOK A HUGE HIT. Ok I'll stop now. COOKIE CALL ME BABY. I'll tell every body [sic] to watch the show for you.
Following some criticisms about the post, 50 Cent took down his original post, replacing it with the below photo and caption.
"It must be a slow news week, they're gonna say 50 said Empire lost 3 million viewers because of to [sic] much gay shit. He only said cookie call me, but the f—king kid is f—king up the show. Now every one [sic] is waiting for POWER,I told him to lay low."
Viewership for 'Empire' is about four times higher than that of the top-rated episode of 'Power,' which is produced by 50 Cent for Sarz.
In 'Empire,' one of the lead characters, Jamal Lyons, played by Jussie Smollett, is an openly gay musician and son of Lucious Lyon, owner of music company, Empire.
In season 2, the show introduced Marisa Tomei as a lesbian investor.
Empire creator Lee Daniels was previously expressed his disappointments that gay storylines didn't sit well with viewers.
‘With our first test screening, the audience loved everything, but when we showed Jamal kissing his boyfriend they hated it.’ He sighed to the Telegraph.
"I was hoping the message would be that it is cool to be gay, but I guess we’ve still got a long way to go."
So, do you agree with 50 Cent?
