Organizers to announce films to be screened

Only 34 submissions from Nigeria were made for this year's film festival, majority of the films submitted were from the United Kingdom and the United States.

The Eko International Film Festival (EKOIFF) is set to announce the selected films for this year’s upcoming festival.

“We received 3,114 Film from 118 countries of the world”, the festival team shared on the EKOIFF website.

34 of the submissions were from Nigeria, majority of the films submitted came from the United Kingdom and the United States. Submissions were made for seven different categories including: feature, short, fiction, documentaries, short documentaries, horror, and student film.

The film festival is set to showcase independent feature and short films from Africa and the rest of the world. It has been revealed that Dagogo Diminas' "Stigma" and Stanlee Ohikhuare’s “Verdict” will be screened at this year’s edition.

The upcoming event will also feature workshops, special presentations and a gala awards reception. There will also be opportunity for filmmakers to pitch their ideas to a panel of potential investors.

The 6th edition EKOIFF is set to hold in Lagos, Nigeria from Monday, November 16 to Saturday, November 21, 2015.

Hope Obioma Opara launched this yearly event in 2009. The first edition was held in Lagos in July 2010.  It saw filmmakers from France, Germany, Kenya, Nigeria, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States of America gather at the Genesis Deluxe Cinemas located in the Palms, Lekki.
