Can Dammy Krane bounce back?

Dammy Krane is finally out of the Slammers after fulfilling his bail conditions but what happens after that?

This is Dammy Krane, the cool , happy kid and 'humble' guy. Nigerians loved him even though he had failed to produce a hit since his 2014 song 'Amin'.

However, after a grand theft, credit card and identity fraud case against him, the 24-year-old's clean-cut image has taken a hit. Goodbye to that young boy everybody was rooting for to become like his pals Davido and Wizkid.

Dammy Krane in the eyes of Nigerians is now a fraudster even though he hasn't been found guilty of any crime. He is now perceived as someone who funds his expensive lifestyle from 'yahoo yahoo', as it's commonly called here.

Even though he has no criminal past that we know of, Nigerians don't care. We have no chill and even if we are ready to forgive it might take a while for this change to happen.

Dammy Krane was booked and released on $5,000 bail and his arraignment hearing is fixed for June 23, 2017.

This means we don't even know what's coming for him until June 23. Will he be remanded in jail and if not what will happen to his career?

Highly unlikely, but in Nigeria where a wanted Niger Delta militant celebrated his 46th birthday in grand style anything is possible. Already Dammy Krane is no longer with 2face's record label, Hypertek. He claims to be on Davido's vanity label DMW. This might be a 'padi padi' arrangement than a real record deal.

This case against Mr Krane will endanger potential endorsement deals, corporate sponsorships and a healthy bounce back.

It might not be for long though. Nigerians love a repentant soul. If Dammy Krane can truly show he is on a new path seek help and maybe use his next single to talk about his experience in jail maybe he can reset his career.

He should be given an opportunity to redeem himself by showing remorse and sincerity.

Maybe he needs help, maybe this will inspire his lyrics and maybe this will end up as a blessing in disguise.
