Lamar Odom will not be charged for cocaine possession, the Nye County sheriff confirmes

As we earlier reported, Odom was found unconscious from a suspected drug overdose at a Nevada brothel back in October. At a press conference after he was hospitalized, the Nye County sheriff confirmed the former NBA star would potentially face drug charges. Local authorities obtained a search warrant to get a blood sample to be tested by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police lab.

Nearly three months later, the Nye County District Attorney’s Office is declining to press formal charges and prosecute the case “based on the present evidence and surrounding circumstances.”
"Odom did indeed had metabolized cocaine in his system while he was present in Nye County in October of 2015 but he was not found in the possession of cocaine and it is unlikely it could established beyond a reasonable doubt he actually ingested, or was impaired by, the drug during the time he was within the jurisdiction of Nye County.” a spokesperson said in a statement on January 11.

Odom has however been released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles where he's been receiving treatment since October 2015.. The basketball player will now continue his recovery at a rehab center, where he’ll be working on his physical mobility, as well as his speech and memory issues. It still remains to be seen how extensive any brain damage may have been.
