UK Singer Divorces Hubby After Just One Year Of Marriage

British songwriter and recording artiste Emeli Sande has just confirmed that she has divorced her husband after just a year in wedlock.

The “Next To You” singer and Adam Gouraguine were childhood sweethearts and dated for 10 years before tying the knot in September 2012.

The couple separated last year and Emeli said that their different lives made it impossible for them to remain as husband and wife. Speaking to , Emeli said she came close to suffering a “breakdown” after separating from Adam and revealed that she is still coming to terms with losing her “best friend”.

Emeli who is of Zambian descent told Times that people thought she was going mad for divorcing her husband but revealed that the marriage was not working. “This isn't the life. You're pretending to be someone else. And that's so hard to explain to someone. I can't even explain it now. I just felt I had to wake up. I'd been sleeping and things were happening. I could get up on stage and sing but, I don't know, it was just a real ... I don't want to call it a breakdown, but it felt like that. Every day you get a bit stronger. Every day you stop blaming yourself for things,” Emeli Sande said.

Emeli who has a tattoo dedicated to her now ex-husband on her left breastbone which reads “I love you Adam” in Serbian says she is going to keep it.
