U2 Frontman Suffers Injury, Heads For Surgery

Bono also escaped death in a private jet mishap in Berlin, Germany just four days ago...

Irish band U2 has been forced to cancel their appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon after their leading man, Bono, real name Paul Hewson, suffered an arm injury in New York.

In a statement, Sunday Nov. 16, on the group's website, the band said Bono, 54, injured his arm in a cycling spill in NYC's Central Park.

U2 was scheduled to perform a weeklong residency on NBC's The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday night.

"It looks like we will have to do our Tonight Show residency another time - we're one man down. Bono has injured his arm in a cycling spill in Central Park and requires some surgery to repair it," the band's message said.

"We're sure he'll make a full recovery soon, so we'll be back! Much thanks to Jimmy Fallon and everyone at the show for their understanding," it added.

Back in February, the group treated fans to a special rooftop performance during Fallon's debut week of hosting The Tonight Show, taking over from Jay Leno.

U2 also was scheduled to perform on December 14 at The Forum in Inglewood, California during the second night of the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas concerts and the question is: Will Bono be well by then?

Just four days ago, the same Bono escaped death in a private jet mishap in Berlin, Germany.
