"I am not Nigeria’s problem" - Singer

The R&B legend thinks his critics should focus on the country's much bigger problems as opposed to bashing him.

His response came following the Area Fada's reproachful comments against him due to his non participation in an anti-Buhari protest he organized in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

The singer gave a view concerning Charly Boy's critique of him in an interview published by Punch News on Saturday, September 16, 2017.

“The only thing I have to say about the protest is that I am not Nigeria’s problem.

"I don’t understand why Charly Boy is calling me out. He should talk to the people that are Nigeria’s problem. That is all I have to say about that,” he said.

There is no question about the commitment of the R&B legend to national development who has been involved in activism geared towards improving the state of governance in Nigeria.

In February 2017, the singer announced the cancellation of a planned protest due to claims that the intended move would put a lot of lives at risk.

He expressed this in an Instagram video where he made the following comments:

“Dear Nigerians, after due consultations, it has become clear that the #OneVoice Nigerian protest scheduled to hold in Lagos and Abuja on Monday the 6th of February is under serious threat of hijack by interests not aligned with our ideals.

"The point and intent am making is not worth the life of any Nigerian. It is a fact motivated by the need to demand a better deal for the ordinary Nigerian.

"I therefore announce the cancellation of the planned protest. We will share further information in due course… I appreciate the massive support and I am convinced that our voices have been heard."

The 'African Queen' has also gotten involved in a number of charity programmes.

According to the singer who spoke at a press briefing held in Abuja in January 2017, 60% of the proceeds from his Eargasm concert will be donated towards the efforts of the UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) in the North-East.
