If we added up the time when the woman was pregnant, it would be over 16 years. She gave birth to her first child when she was only 14 years old. Today, she and her husband are raising 22 children, which makes them the largest family in Great Britain.
"We're proud to be the biggest family in the UK, but initially we planned to have just three," she told Mirror UK.
Radford admitted that although some of her children will soon leave home, she is not looking forward to the prospect. "We love being around children, so I would love to adopt another one. We will definitely think about it," the 46-year-old revealed.
"When my first children started moving out, it was very hard and strange without them," Radford said she was concerned about the empty house. "I know this day will definitely come. You can't hold back your children when you love them, you have to let them fulfill their dreams," she confessed.
What is life like for the large Radford family?
Having such a large family comes with many challenges. Sue Radford talks about the "military operation" of preparing breakfast for all the children, as well as constant cleaning, vacuuming and laundry.
"I get up at 7:00 am to start the military operation, i.e. breakfast. Some children want oatmeal, others want cereal, and the rest want toast. So we tell them to make the food in a certain order, the older ones go upstairs to get ready, and I help the younger ones."
Nevertheless, she emphasises that teamwork in her family is the key to a happy marriage. "We don't take each other for granted, we are each other's best friends and now we try to go on a date once a month," she concluded.
Sue Radford and her family are known from the television programme, 21 Kids and Counting, which shows the everyday life of the largest family in Great Britain.
