North Carolina Says No To Transgender Using Toilets Of Their New Sex

North CarolinaRepublican leaders on Thursday said they will not meet Monday's deadline set by the Justice Department to suspend a law which limits bathroom access for transgender people.

“We will take no action by Monday,” said Tim Moore, the speaker of the State House of Representatives. “That deadline will come and go.”

The Obama administration argues that the law violates the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and could push the federal government to withhold federal aid.

A letter addressed to Republican Gov. Pat McCrory, said that the law was a violation of the Civil Rights Act, and North Carolina was “engaging in a pattern or practice of discrimination against transgender state employees.”
