No fewer than 11 people have died following a car bomb has explosion outside a popular restaurant, Banooda in the Somali capital, Mogadishu.

Banooda restaurant is in front of the Central Hotel, which is often frequented by politicians.
Police officer Ahmed Warhere told AFP reporters that "a vehicle loaded with explosives was parked outside the restaurant."
Asides those killed, many others have been injured in the attack.

On Monday, al-Shabab said it was behind the bombing of a UN vehicle in Garowe, the main city in the north-eastern Puntland region, that killed seven people.
