The head of the UN’s humanitarian task force for Syria is urging Russia and the Syrian government to agree to a ceasefire in Aleppo, so that injured people can be given treatment.

“Our renewed urgent appeal to Russia and Damascus is to ceasefire today to let us evacuate wounded and other vulnerable groups from Aleppo’s rubble,’’ Jan Egeland said.

He also said Moscow and Damascus “are accountable for any and all atrocities that the victorious militias in Aleppo are now committing,’’.

Reports say, over 3,000 people have left the troubled spot.
