Casualty statistics have started to arrive from the scene of the second Nepal earthquake and so far, no fewer than 29 people have been reported dead while 1,006 are said to be injured.

Also in neighbouring Indian state, Bihar, 3 people died after a wall collapsed from the effect of the earthquake.

According to CNN, the shock waves of the quake rippled out from a remote area of eastern Nepal, near the border with China, leveling buildings already damaged by the devastating quake that killed thousands of people 2 and a half weeks ago.

Paul Dillon, a spokesman for the International Organization for Migration said the 4 deaths were reported in the town of Chautara, about 35 kilometers east of Kathmandu.

Reports say in Sindupalchowk, a district northeast of Kathmandu, there were reports of multiple landslides and fallen houses while people in Lukla, which is a town that serves as a gateway to the Everest region, rushed to the airport so they could be in an open area as the earth shook again.

According to the  the United States Geological Survey, the initial quake was followed by a series of aftershocks, the strongest measuring magnitude 6.3.

This morning at 12:35 local time (07:50 GMT),  a 7.3-magnitude earthquake hit Nepal, 2 weeks after a 7.8-magnitude quake hit the country killing over 8,000.

The latest earthquake hit near the town of Namche Bazar, near Mount Everest.
