Microblogging site improves harassment policy for users

In an attempt to deal with this issue, Twitter has announced a series of upgrades to its blocking feature and have also enhanced their report abuse policy.

The issue of trolls (people who sow discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people) on Twitter has been a problematic issue. All it takes is just one tweet against a celebrity or top political personality, and fanboys raid your notifications with abuses, slur and threats.

Twitter has now improved its blocking feature by showing you the entire list of blocked people through your settings menu. You can also edit the block list directly from there, evading the need to rely on third-party apps to keep a track of this. The blocking feature completely obstructs the user from finding you on Twitter and seeing your profile.

Also, they have changed the way you report abusive tweets. The process has been simplified and now flagging tweets has been made extremely easy.

These updates have been rolled to only a few users (not revealing whom), and in the coming weeks, the updates will be rolled out to everyone across the globe. Twitter also hints on additional user controls, further improvements to reporting and new enforcement procedures for abusive accounts in the future.
