The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), in Edo State, Mike Igini, said election materials, including life jackets for regular and ad-hoc staff of INEC, have been taken to all the difficult terrains in the State.

Igini made this known during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin on Friday, March 27.

He explained that the newly introduced Registration Area Centre (RAC), made the timely delivery of sensitive materials to the 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) possible.

“This was done in less than 24 hours after their dispatch from headquarters in Benin,” he said.

He said late arrival of electoral materials to polling units, especially in difficult terrains, had been a major challenge in previous elections in the state.

Igini noted that Supervising/Presiding Officers (SPOs) would complete the distribution of the materials from the LGAs to the different RACs later on Friday.

According to him, it only now requires the poll officials to arrive at the different polling units before 5a.m.

He said security attention have now been shifted to LGAs since sensitive materials were in their domain.
