‘Ex-President was inexperienced not incompetent,’ Babangida says

The former military ruler is also said to have described Jonathan as “a very pleasant person” who meant well for the country.

Former Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida has said that ex-president, Goodluck Jonathan was inexperienced as a leader but not incompetent.

Babangida made the comment during a recent interview with The Interview magazine.

When asked his opinion at the perception that Jonathan is a good but “incompetent” person, Babangida replied: “If you use inexperience, I will buy that.”

Babangida also said during the interview that he would vote for an Igbo president in 2015.

“I will vote for an Igbo president in 2019, if I find one,” Babangida said “We do not need this distraction now,” he added concerning the recent agitation for the return of Biafra.

The ongoing pro-Biafra agitation was sparked off by the arrest of Radio Biafra leader, Nnamdi Kanu by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Kanu was arrested at a hotel in Lagos on October 17, and reportedly granted bail but never freed.

He was arraigned in an Abuja court on November 23 and the case was adjourned till December 1.

Meanwhile, the DSS is seeking to charge Kanu with terrorism after it accused him of participating in and sponsoring terrorist acts.
