‘PDP wants to rig elections,’ Governor says

Fashola added that the PDP’s continuous resistance to the use of card readers in the elections shows that the ruling party is afraid of defeat.

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of plotting to rig during the upcoming general elections.

The governor stated this on Wednesday, March 11, during an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in the Eti-Osa Local Government Area of the state.

“The PDP-led government is afraid of defeat that is why they are kicking against the use of card reader. Jonathan’s government funded and promoted the idea of PVC when INEC proposed it,” Fashola said.

“Now, having realised that it will be difficult for them to rig the election if the card is used, they want to change the rules at the middle of the game. It is not possible. Card reader will help prevent rigging,” he added.

Fashola also criticized the PDP governorship candidate for the state, Jimi Agbaje saying that the latter has no knowledge of the history of Lagos.

“Agbaje have no knowledge of history. How will someone who doesn’t know the history of the state be able to lead the state successfully? Recently he said on a live television programme that Lagos State is owned by the Federal Government,” Fashola said.

Fashola also criticized President Jonathan’s recent visits to Lagos calling them an act of deception meant only to secure votes in the upcoming polls.
