PDP criticises Osun Governor over alleged bailout fund request

Odeyemi said the initial amount of N34.98bn was not properly used, as pensioners and workers in the state were not paid their pension and salaries in full.

Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun state has come under fire from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for asking for more bailout funds.

The Osun PDP Director of Publicity, Mr. Diran Odeyemi said “It is embarrassing and fraudulent for Governor Aregbesola to be begging the CBN for another bailout when no one in the state knows when, where and how he spent the N34.98bn he collected five months ago.”

He said the initial amount of N34.98bn was not properly used, as pensioners and workers in the state were not paid their pension and salaries in full.

The PDP spokesman also said “Let us not forget how this same governor recently embarked on building a fake airport   the cost of which was jerked up from N4.5bn to N15.5bn; N8bn in acquiring his failed, phantom ‘Opon Imo’ and a further N400m in launching the failed project upon which the state came 29th out of 36 states in the recently released WASSCE results.”

“Let us remember his N900m Oodua Children’s Day, the O’ Calisthenics, the firework display, the N1bn moribund Olajokun Park at Gbongan junction being occupied by reptiles, the annual N100m Isese festival, the monthly multi-million naira “walk to live” jamboree, and all other wasteful ventures that later plunged the state into the current financial mess,” Odeyemi said.

Governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State also revealed that his first child studied for six years at the Republic of Cuba on scholarship from the country.
