Benue Governor says Miyetti Allah is threatening to kill him

Ortom, who had said no going back on the controversial anti-grazing law in the state, said his life is not in the hands of any Fulani man.

He said one Gaurus Gololo is leading the team sent to kill him.

Ortom disclosed this to journalists in the state after a meeting with his predecessor, Dr. Gabriel Suswam and paramount ruler of the Tiv nation, the Tor Tiv, Prof. James Ayatse.

He said, "There are threats on my life and I have reported that to the security agencies that one Gaurus Gololo and his team who are members of MACBAN was planning to attack me.

"But I always said life belongs to God, it is God that gives and takes away life so my life is not in the hands of any Fulani man who is not happy with the promulgation of the anti-open grazing law in the state."

Ortom had said no going back on the anti-grazing law that has led to the massacre over 100 people in the state.

On December 31, 2017, the herdsmen launched an attack in a Benue community, killing 50 people.

The attack turned out to be the beginning of what has now become a national threat - with herdsmen embarking on a killing spree.
