The commission gave the warning in a statement by its Head of Press and Public Relations, Mr Ikechukwu Ani, in Abuja on Tuesday.

Ani said that the commission discovered a new face book account of the Chairman, Mr Mike Okiro, on Monday, after it threatened to arrest and prosecute the brains behind such act in the past.

He said that fraudsters were said to be using the account to demand for payments as guarantee for recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force.

“The commission wishes to state that its chairman has no official or private facebook account and has never operated one.

“Applicants for police recruitment are advised to ignore the fraudsters and report any such incident to the nearest police station.

“The commission warns that perpetrators will soon be rounded up and dealt with in accordance with the law,’’ he said.

Ani added that the commission would remain resolute in its decision to ensure that the recruitment exercise was concluded without blemish.

“The commission has since ensured that the exercise is transparent, merit-driven and based on established criteria.’’
