New monarch, Ogunwusi prevented from entering Ife over unfinished rituals

40-year-old Ogunwusi was due to make his grand entrance into Ife today, October 27, 2015, to begin the coronation process.

The newly-appointed Ooni of Ife, Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has been prevented from entering the ancient town due to the non-completion of necessary rituals, reports say.

He will however not enter the town until tomorrow, 28, and is currently meeting with prominent traditional rulers in Ibadan, Oyo State, according to Premium Times.

“He will not be allowed to come in today. They have insisted that unless they finish carrying some rituals, the Kabiyesi will not be able to enter the town,” a source said.

“So we will have to wait until the finish and that will be tomorrow,” the source added.
