‘Nigeria’s 4 refineries to resume operations in July,’ Corporation says

This was disclosed on Thursday, June 18, 2015, by the General Manager, Public Affairs, of the NNPC, Ohi Alegbe.

Nigeria’s four refineries will resume operations next month, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has said.

This was disclosed on Thursday, June 18, 2015, by the General Manager, Public Affairs, of the NNPC, Ohi Alegbe.

“The refineries at Warri, Port Harcourt and Kaduna will resume next month after a successful turn-around-maintenance (overhaul) of their facilities,” Alegbe said.

“The turn-around-maintenance has been on for some time. We did not just want to make any noise about it. The refineries will start production as soon as they have delivery of crude oil for refining,” he added.

Alegbe said further that the resumption of production “will significantly improve the supply of petroleum products in the country.”

The NNPC has four refineries, two in Port Harcourt, one in Kaduna and another in Warri, but have been non-functional for some time forcing the country to import petroleum products.

This has led to frequent fuel shortages in the country with industry insiders saying that the closure of the refineries was a deliberate attempt to aid the laundering of oil funds.
