Ex IG condemns retirement of DIGs, AIGs

The former police IG said some of the sacked officers still had four or five more years to go in the force.

He also condemned the Police Service Commission for approving the retirement of the officers, describing it as a dangerous trend.

Daily Post reports that he said “The DIGs that were sent away, some of them still have about five years in service. Some of the AIGs have seven years in service.

“It is not fair. When we joined this job as Nigerians no one told us we can be sent away by mere whims and caprices of politicians.

“We were trained both internally and outside. So, all the experiences have gone with the officers. Who do you work with? These are some of the issues.”

He also praised former Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Joseph Mbu for his courage while in service.

Mbu Joseph Mbu was retired by the Police Service Commission with the approval of the new acting Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim.
