Helicopter crashes in northeast

The Agusta 106 Light Utility helicopter suffered a technical problem before its crash.

According to the Punch, the Agusta 106 Light Utility helicopter suffered the crash due to a technical problem.

The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya, confirmed the incident on Thursday, July 6, 2017, saying there was no loss of lives.

He also said that the the pilots of the doomed aircraft abandoned it to minimise the damage.

Efforts are already underway to recover the aircraft while investigations have commenced into what caused the crash.

According to Adesanya, "The Chief of the Air Staff has immediately directed the constitution of a board of inquiry to determine the exact cause of the incidence.

"Members of the board are already in Maiduguri to commence work"
