INTERPOL, court issue fresh arrest warrants against wanted ex-pension boss

The Presidency said Maina, who was fraudulently reabsorbed into the Civil Service, is in a bigger trouble than his reinstatement and promotion.

A Magistrate Court in Abuja also is also said to have ordered Maina's arrest.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, disclosed this to newsmen.

He said Maina, who was fraudulently reabsorbed into the Civil Service three years after he was disengaged, is in a bigger trouble than his reinstatement and promotion.

"Maina's investigation has been expanded. This is beyond reinstatement. It has gone beyond that," Shehu said.

"You know that the INTERPOL has just issued an international warrant on him. A Nigerian court has also issued yet another warrant of arrest.

"All those cases involving Steve Oronsaye (former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation) that are ongoing, you know Maina is also involved. Law enforcement agencies are looking at that too.

"You are also aware that the Senate is also carrying out its own investigation on the matter.

"The matter is being investigated from all fronts. The EFCC, for example,  is discovering more and more properties and its officials are sealing them. They are also looking at banks and all that.

"In fact, this investigation will also touch some foreign countries."

Maina allegedly stole over N2 billion pension funds and fled the country after he was indicted by the Senate under the Goodluck Jonathan administration.

The EFCC declared him wanted at the time, not knowing that he has since crawled back into the country and even got his job back with perks to go with it.

President Muhammadu Buhari ordered his immediate sack after Maina's reinstatement became public - the ex-pension boss has gone off the radar again.

The Head of Service, Mrs.  Winifred Oyo-Ita and the Minister for Interior, Lt-Gen Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd.), who have denied complicity in Maina's reinstatement, are being questioned by the Presidency over the matter.
