20 killed, 18 injured in suicide attack by 10 Yr-old girl

The explosion occurred at about 12:30 pm on Saturday, January 10, at a popular market in the Borno State capital and is also said to have left 18 people injured.

A suicide bombing attack carried out by a girl of about 10-years-old has claimed 20 lives in Maiduguri, officials say.

The casualty figure was confirmed by the Police Public Relations officer for the state, Gideon Jubrin.

“Casualty figure is 20 and 18 injured, including the female suicide bomber that detonated the Improvised Explosive Device,” Jubrin said.

Jubrin also added that the attack was carried out in the Yen-Kaji area of the market where live chickens are sold. The scene of the bombing has since been cordoned off by military officials.
