The distribution took place at the palace of Oba Munirudeen Yusuf, the Onigbongbo of Ikeja.

Mr Patrick Ikheloa, the Director-General of the Rotary Foundation, handed over the treated mosquito nets to the monarch, saying it was one of the humanitarian services the foundation was saddled with.

Ikheloa said that some other communities would be visited in the course of the rainy season known for mosquito breeding.

“We do not expect anyone to sell these nets but they should be used appropriately so that we do not have our children being rushed to hospitals frequently for malaria treatment,” he said.

Oba Munirudeen Yusuf thanked the club for the kind gesture extended to his community and urged the beneficiaries to use the nets as explained to them by the donors.

Mrs Idowu Ayoola, one of the beneficiaries, said she was so glad to have received the mosquito net as she would have bought the original treated one of the same size for N2,000 at a pharmacy.

Another beneficiary, Mrs Yinka Adeleye, whose baby is three months old said she had been battling with mosquito bites as no insecticide could kill mosquitoes again.

“It is as if all mosquitoes have developed resistance to insecticides; with this net, I will be able to curb their attack on my family,” Adeleye said.
