Jega handed over to Wali on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, after his five-year tenure officially came to an end.

Wali is expected to be the acting INEC Chairman till August 11, 2015, when his tenure ends.
The former INEC Chairman was appointed on June 8, 2010 by former President, Goodluck Jonathan.
He had earlier stated that he would not be seeking a tenure elongation.
