State assembly confirms Daisy Okocha as chief justice

Daisy Okocha has been confirmed the chief justice of Rivers State by the State House of Assembly.

The governor of the state, NyesomWike had earlier sent a letter to the state assembly requesting them to approve Justice Daisy Okocha as the substantive Chief Justice of the state.

The confirmation came some weeks after the Court of Appeal in Port Hacourt set aside the judgement of the Federal High Court that barred Okocha from being appointed the Chief Justice of the state.

Hon Adams Dabatorudima, Speaker of the Assembly, disclosed that the confirmation was made after a debate and vote by the house at an emergency plenary on Christmas eve.
