Dangote trucks set ablaze after crushing VIO, four others to death

It was reported that Police who arrived the scene were almost lynched by the angry bystanders.

Two Dangote trucks were on Thursday March 26 set ablaze by angry mob after one of the trucks lost control and crushed to death one Vehicle Inspection Officer (VIO) on duty and four others at Ilaro area of Yewa South Local Government, Ogun State.

The truck loaded with cement was reportedly to its destination of delivery when the incident occurred. A mob action shortly followed as the truck and another which came arrived at scene were set ablaze.

It was reported that Police who arrived the scene were almost lynched by the mob, as a police patrol van was vandalised.

The Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the story to Premium Times.

“Five persons were crushed. The mob set ablaze the vehicle before our men could get there. The corpses have been deposited in the hospital mortuary,” he said.
