Senate confirms appointment of service chiefs

The Senate President added that the appointment of the service chiefs was based on merit, He also admonished them to live above board.

 

After a gruelling five hour closed door screening session, the Senate President,Bukola Saraki has announced the confirmation of the service chiefs’ appointment.

Saraki also said that the confirmation of the service chiefs’ appointment was in line with the dictates of the constitution as stated in Section 18 (1) of the Armed Forces Act, 2004.

The service chiefs are: General Abayomi Olonisakin (Chief of Defence Staff); Major-General Tukur Buratai (Chief of Army Staff); Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Chief of Naval Staff); and Air Vice-Marshal Sadique Abubakar (Chief of Air Staff).
