Wife of The Sun newspapers DMD, Toyin Nwosu regains freedom

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Nwosu was abducted by unknown gunmen who invaded their home on Monday at about 2 a.m. at Okota area of Lagos.

The wife of the Deputy Managing Director of the Sun Newspapers, Mrs Toyin Nwosu, on Friday regain her freedom after spending three nights with suspected abductors.

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Mr Fatai Owoseni, who confirmed her release, said she regained freedom at about 2.20 a.m. on Thursday.

Owoseni said that she was picked up by her husband and policemen at 1st Gate, FESTAC Town, adding that he had visited the family with some senior officers.

The commissioner said the woman had narrated her ordeal to the police and added that the police were working with the information they got from her.

NAN also reports that the gunmen had demanded for N100 million as ransom before she would be released.

Owoseni, who did not mention if any ransom was paid before her release, commended her husband for cooperating with the police.

He said the command was doing everything possible to track the suspected kidnappers.

"Detectives and other intelligence operatives are working day and night to track the suspected criminals and bring them to book.

"I seize this opportunity to appeal to our people to know that for incidents like this, we need to work together.

"Steve Nwosu gave us all necessary cooperation before his wife was released. People should not do anything that would hinder investigations,’’ Owoseni advised.
