'Cooperatives not functioning,' says commissioner for agriculture, forestry

Kaduna State Commissioner for Agriculture and Forestry, Dr Manzo Daniel Maigari has said that previous government interference destroyed cooperatives sociaties in the state.

Kaduna State Commissioner for Agriculture and Forestry, Dr Manzo Daniel Maigari has said that previous government interference destroyed cooperatives sociaties in the state.

According to him, some of the leaders of the cooperative societies were not qualified to be in their positions but were appointed to lead cooperatives.

The commissioner stated this while announcing the desolutiong of the State Management Committee of Cooperative Federation in the state.

According to him, the desolution was with immediate effect and that those affected has since been issued desolution letters on Wednesday 27 January 2016.

He gave reasons for the desolution to include over stayed in office and that they were not elected but appointed by previous governments in the state.

" We are here to inform the public that we have desolve the management Committee of Kaduna Cooperative Federation and we are going to put an interim caretaker committee to restructure the cooperative federation to an election hopefully within six months," Mazo said.
