Pro-Biafra protesters flood streets, shut down shops [PHOTOS]

The demonstrators reportedly blocked the Onitsha-Owerri expressway even as many shops in the area remained closed.

Supporters of the Biafra movement have flooded the streets of various towns in Anambra State to protest the continued detention of Radio Biafra boss, Nnamdi Kanu.

Soldiers are said to have blocked the Niger Bridge to prevent the protesters from crossing it.

Some of the towns where protests took place according to Vanguard are Awka, Ekwulobia, Awka-Etiti and Nnewi among others.

The ongoing pro-Biafra agitation was sparked off by the arrest ofKanuby the Department of State Services (DSS).

Kanu was arrested at a hotel in Lagos on October 17, and reportedly granted bail but never freed.

He was arraigned in an Abuja court on November 23 and the case was adjourned till December 1.

Meanwhile, the DSS is seeking to charge Kanu with terrorism after it accused him of participating in and sponsoring terrorist acts.
