President of the association, Dr Christian Adeneye, made this known to newsmen in Uyo on Thursday.

Adeneye said the suspension followed intervention by the State Government and other stakeholders in Akwa Ibom.

He described the 11 weeks industrial action and the losses suffered during the period as unfortunate.

“The decision to suspend the strike followed intervention by government, spirited individuals and the consideration of those that might not be able to access medical care in other health institutions.

“The association, on compassionate ground, agreed to allow industrial harmony by suspending the strike because of new commitment and agreement by the management of UUTH, the association and other stakeholders.

“We are hoping that this new bilateral agreement will be complied with”, Adeneye said.

Adeneye added that the management had six weeks to remedy all their grievances.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), recalls that the doctors proceeded on the industrial action in August.
